Unifor Local 112 represents 23 different units. We have over 3,100 active members and over 1,500 retired workers. Our slogan “Strength in Diversity” reflects our pride in our increasingly diverse membership. Our members get involved in the work of their Local by participating in sub-committees that report to the Executive Board members and membership through various activities, strategies, campaigns, and proposals. It’s through the volunteer work of our members in these committees that our Local is able to publish its magazine, Aircrafter, as well as organize educational events and participate in campaigns around issues that concern our members.
Local 112 was chartered under the UAW on June 17th, 1942. In June 2007, Local 112 celebrated our 65th anniversary. We have a proud, colourful and dynamic history of fighting back not only at the bargaining table but also in the communities in which we live.
We are best known for our historic health and safety battle – the first mass work refusal – which led to the enactment of WHMIS and Right to Know legislation for all workers in Canada.
