BARGAINING UPDATE
Return to Work – Important Information for All Members
August 24, 2025
Dear Sisters and Brothers,
As you are aware, Unifor Local 112 has reached a settlement with Toromont Reman Bradford that ends the strike and allows members to return to work under a signed Return to Work Protocol and Memorandum of Agreement.
Key Details:
- Return to Work Date: Members will return no later than the first day of their regular work week beginning Friday, August 29, 2025. Weekend crew starts at 6:00 a.m. on Friday, August 29. If any bargaining unit work is required prior to this date, the Company may contact and offer that work to members in order of seniority from those who normally perform the work.
- Operations Resumption: The Employer will resume operations on Monday, August 25, 2025. Certain employees may be contacted to stagger their start times.
- Positions: All members will return to the positions and assignments they held on July 7, 2025.
- Vacation Requests: Members may elect to use vacation time between now and their return to work by communicating the request to their supervisor. The Employer has agreed such requests will not be unreasonably denied.
- Benefits & Pensions: Will be automatically reinstated effective August 25, 2025, with no re-qualifying periods.
- Labour Day Holiday: Members will receive public holiday pay for Labour Day.
- Seniority: Time spent on strike will count as continuous service. Members will not lose any seniority as a result of the strike.
- No Discipline/No Reprisal: The Employer has confirmed there will be no discipline or reprisals against any member for strike-related activities.
Arbitration of Wages:
All outstanding wage matters have been referred to final and binding interest arbitration. An arbitrator will be appointed with the expectation that hearings will begin prior to October 31, 2025. Wage increases awarded will be retroactive to August 29, 2025, or earlier if determined by the arbitrator.
Moving Forward:
This agreement preserves everything we achieved in bargaining. The only item left to be decided is wages, which will now be determined through arbitration. Your solidarity and determination throughout this strike made this possible.
We thank each and every one of you for your strength and commitment on the picket line. Together, we have shown what solidarity can achieve, and we will carry that same strength into the arbitration process.
In solidarity,
Dustin Philp
