Dear Unifor members at the W Hotel,
We write to provide a bargaining update.
As you know, the tentative agreement was narrowly rejected by voters at the W Hotel. As such we chose not to initiate strike action.
Since the vote, we have gathered feedback from the membership about the issues that led to the rejection. We have reached out to the employer in an effort to address your concerns.
We want to notify you that we have ratified a new agreement at the other Marriott – the Courtyard by Marriott Downtown – that is different from the deal at the W Hotel in a few key areas.
It is our intent to see if we can find a path at the W Hotel that addresses the members’ concerns.
If we cannot, we are still in a legal strike position and can take strike action at any time. For now, continue working as normal until you hear otherwise from the Union.
